Downloading Course Materials (for students)
If there are Blackboard files that you have permission to save for future use, please download before the end of your module.
You may wish to save assignments and class notes from your Blackboard course.
You can save your files to your Microsoft 365 OneDrive. Please visit the ISS Blackboard webpage for more information on how to download the course content. Also, see the ISS Microsoft 365 OneDrive webpage for more information on using OneDrive.
This will depend on the type of file and how it was added to Blackboard by your instructor. Here are some tips on saving files:
Assignments
Chances are you probably already have a copy of your submitted assignments in your files, but if you don't, then you may wish to download your submitted assignments. Also, your instructor might have returned assignments via Blackboard. Either way, if your assignment was submitted or returned as an attachment, then you can download the files. Go to the part of Blackboard where you submitted the assignment, and download the file from there.
PDFs
PDF documents may open within Blackboard or in a separate window. To download a PDF from Blackboard, use the save icon on the PDF (not in the web browser).
PowerPoint
Instructors may have added class slides to Blackboard in one of two ways:
1. As a PowerPoint file which opens within Blackboard or within a new window. You may be able to right-click and save the PowerPoint document from its link in Blackboard.
2. As a PDF version of the PowerPoint, that needs to be downloaded as a PDF file.
Class Notes
Instructors may have added class notes to Blackboard in one of two ways:
1. As a Word document which opens within Blackboard or within a new window. You may be able to right-click and save the Word document from its link in Blackboard.
2. As PDF version of the Word file, that needs to be downloaded as a PDF file.
If you have any questions around the copyright licensing and retention of course files, please consult your course instructor.
The data storage policy for Blackboard as approved by the University's Teaching and Learning Committee specifies that the number of years data is stored on the Blackboard environment is two years (i.e. the current and previous academic year).
It is good practice to keep your local own copy of any work submitted for assessment. When you have completed a course, the Student Information System (SIS), keeps a permanent and official record of your final mark across all of your modules. You can log in directly on CASS to view your official transcript. See more here.
